ABP is pleased to announce that they have been accepted onto the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Levels (NMCL) program, a government initiative which reflects the ability of a business to boost competitiveness and deliver positive customer impact and growth.
The National Manufacturing Competitiveness Levels (NMCL) program is a huge opportunity for growth for ABP. It is a supported program that has been developed by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) to enhance an organisation’s competitiveness and effectiveness. Over the past few months ABP has been developing a detailed roadmap with our customers, peers and independent experts that will be used to differentiate us from our competitors, and secure ABP’s position as an industry leader in the security and defence market.
The program will be implemented in every section of the business, at every level and will involve all the team at ABP. By taking a holistic and companywide approach, ABP plans to draw on our current expertise and business capabilities whilst driving improvements in each section. The aim is to focus on 3 main areas: competitive strategy & management systems, new product introduction (NPI) & lifecycle management, manufacturing operations & supply chain management. Over the next three years ABP will invest in the region of 500-man days into the program with 150 of these days involving external industry leaders.
“The benefits are huge to the company, it is a very exciting time”, says Dave Smith, Head of Quality and Health & Safety at ABP. He adds, “In addition to improved quality, cost and delivery, we expect to see improvements in our flexibility, product & technology and customer experience. We predict significant revenue growth in addition to a considerable impact on our net working capital. More importantly, as a company we are striving to be recognised as the number one choice to conduct business with and work for in the Defence Industry.”
