ELECTRO MECHANICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER


We have a vacancy for a suitably experienced Engineer in our Defence Equipment and Support Unit.


You will be required to specify design solutions to electro mechanical problems providing guidance to detail design, support implementation, installation and trials. Some travelling will be necessary.


Experience in electro mechanical and test/design is required together with hands-on experience and a positive and flexible attitude. Relevant MoD/armed forces experience would be an advantage.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER


We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated engineer to join our Software Development team.


ABP have anumber of exciting projects for the successful candidate. The current challenges include various components for remotely operated robotic systems in both the military and commercial markets.


Experience of C, C++ or C# programming in a Windows or embedded environment is required along with an understanding of data communications, protocols and standards. A qualification to Degree/HND/HNC in a software or electronics subject is expected.


At ABP we endeavour to use the latest design tools and adopt latest engineering practices. This position will provide an opportunity to develop skills whilst working on a wide variety of evolving technologies and product types.

  • Solid Edge and AutoCAD

  • Sheet metal fabrications
  • Turned and milled components

Software


• Software Engineers

Typically requires experience in the following areas:


  • Real time embedded systems using C
  • Data communications including CAN, RS485 and Ethernet
  • Low level interfaces such as SPI and I2C
  • Development of high level MS Windows applications using C++ and C#
  • Knowledge of Winsock and networking principles
  • Working within a structured ISO 9001/TickIT environment
  • Documentation and testing using formal methods
  • PLC programming
  • Four and six axis robotic programming

  • Production and maintenance of project documentation from proposal through design specification, reporting, testing, legislation compliance etc.
